1. Pub/Sub for Machine Learning Model's Feature Store Updates

    Pub/Sub (short for Publish/Subscribe) systems are a form of messaging service where messages are sent by publishers to topics, and subscribers who are interested in those topics receive the messages. This pattern is especially useful for building event-driven systems and is widely used in distributed systems for decoupling application components.

    In the context of a Machine Learning (ML) model feature store, Pub/Sub can be used to broadcast updates to features, such as changes in data or updates to feature calculations. When a feature within a feature store is updated, a message can be published to a topic. This message will then be consumed by subscribers, such as ML models or other dependent services, to react to these changes—perhaps by re-training the model or by making runtime predictions using the latest features.

    We can set up such a system using cloud services. Below we'll write a Pulumi program using Google Cloud Platform's (GCP) Pub/Sub service. Here's how we do it:

    To complete your setup, you'll need to integrate this Pub/Sub system with your feature store. When an update occurs in the feature store, your service should publish a message to the "feature-updates" topic. Subsequently, any ML model or service that needs to react to these updates will consume the messages by being a subscriber to the "feature-updates-sub" subscription.
