Manage GCP BigQuery Analytics Hub Listing IAM Members

The gcp:bigqueryanalyticshub/listingIamMember:ListingIamMember resource, part of the Pulumi GCP provider, manages IAM permissions for Analytics Hub listings, controlling who can access shared datasets. This guide focuses on three approaches: single-member grants (non-authoritative), multi-member role bindings (authoritative per role), and full policy replacement (authoritative).

Analytics Hub listings exist within data exchanges and require project and location identifiers. The examples are intentionally small. Combine them with your own listing infrastructure and identity management strategy.

Grant a single user access to a listing

When sharing data through Analytics Hub, you often need to grant individual users or service accounts access without affecting other permissions.

This resource is non-authoritative: it adds the member without removing others who already have the same role.

The members property accepts a list of identities in the same formats as the single-member resource. This resource is authoritative for the specified role: it replaces any existing members for that role while preserving other roles in the policy.

The policyData property accepts output from getIAMPolicy, which defines bindings (role-to-members mappings) in a structured format. This resource is fully authoritative: it replaces the entire IAM policy, removing any permissions not explicitly defined.

Beyond these examples

These snippets focus on specific IAM management approaches: single-member grants, multi-member role bindings, and full policy replacement. They’re intentionally minimal rather than complete access control solutions.

The examples reference pre-existing infrastructure such as Analytics Hub listings in data exchanges, and GCP projects with configured locations. They focus on configuring IAM permissions rather than provisioning the listings themselves.

To keep things focused, common IAM patterns are omitted, including:

  • Conditional IAM bindings (condition property)
  • Custom role definitions
  • Federated identity configuration
  • Policy retrieval without modification (data source)

Can I use ListingIamPolicy with ListingIamBinding or ListingIamMember?
No, ListingIamPolicy cannot be used with ListingIamBinding or ListingIamMember as they will conflict over policy management. Additionally, ListingIamBinding and ListingIamMember can only be used together if they don’t grant privileges to the same role.
