The gcp:bigqueryanalyticshub/listingIamMember:ListingIamMember resource, part of the Pulumi GCP provider, manages IAM permissions for BigQuery Analytics Hub listings, controlling who can access shared datasets. This guide focuses on three capabilities: adding individual members to listings, granting roles to multiple members, and replacing entire IAM policies.
Analytics Hub listings exist within data exchanges and require project and location identifiers. The examples are intentionally small. Combine them with your own listing infrastructure and access requirements. Note that ListingIamPolicy cannot be used alongside ListingIamBinding or ListingIamMember, as they manage the same underlying IAM policy with different levels of control.
Grant a single user access to a listing
When sharing data through Analytics Hub, you often need to grant individual users or service accounts access without affecting other permissions.

The members property accepts a list of identifiers, granting the specified role to all of them in one operation. This resource is authoritative for the given role: it replaces any existing members for that role while preserving other roles in the policy. Use this when you need to manage all members of a role together.

The policyData property accepts a complete IAM policy document retrieved from getIAMPolicy. This resource replaces all existing bindings on the listing. The bindings array in the policy defines roles and their members. Because this resource is authoritative for the entire policy, it cannot be used alongside ListingIamBinding or ListingIamMember resources, as they would conflict over policy ownership.
Beyond these examples
These snippets focus on specific IAM management approaches: incremental member grants, role-level binding management, and full policy replacement. They’re intentionally minimal rather than complete access control solutions.
The examples reference pre-existing infrastructure such as Analytics Hub listings in data exchanges, and GCP projects with configured locations. They focus on configuring IAM permissions rather than provisioning the listings themselves.
To keep things focused, common IAM patterns are omitted, including:
- Conditional IAM bindings (condition property)
- Custom role definitions
- Policy retrieval without modification
- Combining Policy with Binding/Member resources
