The gcp:cloudrunv2/serviceIamMember:ServiceIamMember resource, part of the Pulumi GCP provider, manages IAM permissions for Cloud Run v2 services by adding individual members to roles without affecting other members. This guide focuses on three capabilities: single-member role grants, multi-member role bindings, and complete policy replacement.
Cloud Run IAM resources come in three variants with different authoritativeness levels. ServiceIamMember is non-authoritative (preserves other members), ServiceIamBinding is authoritative for a role (replaces all members for that role), and ServiceIamPolicy is fully authoritative (replaces the entire policy). ServiceIamPolicy cannot be used with the other two resources, as they will conflict. The examples are intentionally small. Combine them with your own Cloud Run services and identity management.
Grant a role to a single member
Most IAM configurations add one user or service account to a role without affecting existing assignments.

The member property specifies the identity to grant access (user, service account, group, or special identifier like allUsers). The role property defines the permission level. ServiceIamMember is non-authoritative: it adds this member to the role while preserving other members who already have it.
Grant a role to multiple members at once
When several identities need the same permissions, ServiceIamBinding manages the complete member list for a role.

The members property lists all identities that should have this role. ServiceIamBinding is authoritative for the specified role: it replaces any existing members for that role but leaves other roles untouched. This differs from ServiceIamMember, which adds members incrementally.
Replace the entire IAM policy
ServiceIamPolicy sets the complete IAM policy, replacing everything that exists.

The policyData property comes from getIAMPolicy, which constructs a policy document with bindings (role-to-members mappings). ServiceIamPolicy is fully authoritative: it replaces the entire policy. This conflicts with ServiceIamBinding and ServiceIamMember, which modify the policy incrementally.

These snippets focus on specific IAM management features: single-member grants, multi-member role bindings, and complete policy replacement. They’re intentionally minimal rather than full access control configurations.
The examples reference pre-existing infrastructure such as Cloud Run v2 services. They focus on configuring IAM permissions rather than provisioning the services themselves.
To keep things focused, common IAM patterns are omitted, including:
- Conditional IAM bindings (condition property)
- Custom role definitions
- Service account creation
- Federated identity configuration
